School is Out!!

On Friday, December 1, 2012, the fall semester ended. The semester went well despite me only getting one class. I did well through out the semester and it probably helped only having one class so I could spend all my time working on the stuff for the class.

I took my final on friday and......drum roll..........I got a 76 percent on it. I'm happy with my grade.

As for my grade in the class.............drum roll.........I got and 88 percent in the class so I got a B. I'm really happy for my grade,

Now I'm on break and I start spring semester on January 14, 2013. I am registered for 3 classes and I am waitlisted for two classes. If i get the two classes i'm waitlisted for, I will have five classes. WOW!!! It seems like alot but For someone, me, who hasn't been able to get more than two of three classes at one time, it is really exciting.

I was looking to transfer to Azusa Pacific University but they told me to take biology, English, and Math class in one semester so hopefully it's not too late for me to reactivate my application.

Well that's all I have for you today.

P.S. My heart, thoughts, and prayers go out to all affected by the shooting that occured in Newtown, Connecticut on Friday. May God be with all those affected during this holiday season.

The Christmas Shoes

I meant to post a christmas song everyday but you know how life happens. We forget, get busy, or just dont feel like it. I hope you enjoy this song by Newsong.

I can't listen to this without getting teary eyed.

There is a movie based off of this song and there is a book of the same title, The Christmas Shoes, written by Donna Vanliere. The movie is based off of the book as well. The movie has Rob Lowe and Kimberly Williams-Paisely.

Enjoy!

God Bless,
Jennifer

Christmastime

In the nexf few days leading up to christmas I will be posting my favorite christmas carols and songs.

This first song is Christmastime sung by Michael W. Smith. This song has special meaning to me because when I was in the childrens choir at my church we would sing this song and the pastor, Larry Pitcher, who my church misses dearly since he retired in April, would play his trumpet. It was amazing and I miss it.

Watch this video and please tell me what you think.

Enjoy.

Dressing Modestly

Before I get in dressing modestly and telling you why I do it. I would like to first tell you what the definition of modest or modesty is.

In the Scott Foresman Intermediate Dictionary, modest is defined as not thinking too highly of oneself, not vain; humble, held back by a sense of what is fit and proper; not bold or forward; bashful; shy, not displaying or calling attention to one's body. Modesty is defined as freedom from vanity; being modest or humble, shyness, bashfulness, not displaying or calling attention to one's body.

Now that I've said what modesty is, I can now say why I dress modestly.

I watch the show 19 kids and counting with the Duggar family and I really enjoy watching how they interact with their family and others around them. The family as a whole chooses to dress modestly and they do so as to not draw attention to their bodies but to their countenance, face, and their personalities. I myself began to dress in skirts slowly last year then in April I went all in with dressing in skirts and dressing modestly. I have worn pants, shorts and capris but I feel more comfortable and lady like when I'm in dresses or skirts.

As some of you may know, different cultures have their own ideas of what is modest and what is not. For example, modesty to me is making sure your breasts are not visible and girls arent continuously having to pull up their tops because their chest is falling out of their tops. Another thing I find modest is loose fitting clothing such as shirts and pants. I feel that tight fitting jeans or skinny jeans or jeggings are not modest because they draw attention to how the body is shaped and, by watching my neice, they are constently riding down and can show a girls backside if shes not wearing a long enough top or jacket. I love loose fitting clothing because I am comfortable, cooler, and when I wear a shirt that isn't loose fitting I feel like the shirt has shrunk or I'm going to be like the Incredible Hulk and rip my shirt if I breath a certain way, move a certain way and I also feel that I can move more freely since it's loose.

Some people may say you cant do anything in a skirt but I must disagree. With a big enough skirt a lady can go horseback riding, I have gone to Disneyland and Knotts berry farm in a skirt and have had no problems getting on and off the rides and moving around.

So I guess Im going to wrap up this post.

Have a great day and God bless you and your families.

Victory in Jesus

This past Sunday, my church had a hymn sing led by our choir director and her husband, Rick and Melva Morrison. Rick is an old testament sunday school teacher and Melva directs the worship choir and teaches as Jurupa Valley High School.

Well back to the hymn sing.

Melva played the piano and Rick allowed the congregation to choose songs that they like out of the hymnal. I did not choose a song and I don't remember if we sang this song or not but this past week I have had the hymn, Victory in Jesus, stuck in my head. It is one of my favorite hymns and enjoy it when we sing it in worship services.

Victory in Jesus

I HEARD AN OLD,
OLD STORY
HOW A SAVIOUR CAME
FROM GLORY
HOW HE GAVE HIS LIFE
ON CALVARY
TO SAVE SOMEONE LIKE ME

I HEARD ABOUT
HIS GROANING,
OF HIS PRECIOUS BLOOD'S
ATONING
THEN I REPENTED
OF MY SIN
AND WON THE VICTORY

OH, VICTORY IN JESUS,
MY SAVIOUR FOREVER
HE SOUGHT ME
AND HE BOUGHT ME
WITH HIS REDEEMING BLOOD

HE LOVED ME
ERE I KNEW HIM
AND ALL MY LOVE
IS DUE HIM
HE PLUNGED ME TO VICTORY
BENEATH THE
CLEANSING BLOOD

I HEARD ABOUT HIS
HEALING,
OF HIS CLEANSING POW'R
REVEALING
HOW HE MADE THE LAME
TO WALK AGAIN
AND CAUSED THE
BLIND TO SEE

AND THEN I CRIED
"DEAR JESUS,
COME AND HEAL
MY BROKEN SPIRIT"
AND SOMEHOW JESUS
CAME AND BROUGHT
TO ME THE VICTORY

OH, VICTORY IN JESUS,
MY SAVIOUR FOREVER

Fall and Christmas time

Fall and Christmas time.

These are two of my favorite times of the year. Aside from rainy days and my birthday and halloween.

Across the street from wher I live there is a nice sized park with swings, a basketball court and some barbeque pits.

As you can see in the picture it looks beautiful during fall with the leaves changing colors and the piles of leaves on the ground.

My mom and I pick up my niece from school every tuesday afternoon and every day as my sister needs. While with my niece at the park she wa kicking the stickerballs and there were leaves along the curb in the street and our street isnt very busy so I allowed her to play with the leaves and she threw them in the air and I thought it looked awesome so thankfully I had my phone with me and I took a couple photos of her.
I cant remember if it was the first or second photo I took but when my niece threw the leaves the wind blew and I wasnt going to post it on facebook until I was looking at it again and I zoomed in and I saw she was smiling so I decided to post it as well.

I have finally put the lights and a wreath on our patio and it looks great if I do say so myself. If I could I would have lights and plants in my home and around my home because I love christmas lights. They had such elegance and beauty to any home, tree, or whatever they are put on. There is a group of people out near my patio and I dont want to go outside and take a picture because they may wonder "what is she doing". Rest assured I will post a picture soon.
Well thats it for now, God bless to you and your families.

It's beginning to look alot like christmas

I'm sure you all know that famous christmas carol by Johnny Mathis.

Well in case you don't I have the lyrics below.

It's beginning to look a lot like Christmas Ev'rywhere you go; Take a look in the five and ten glistening once again With candy canes and silver lanes aglow. It's beginning to look a lot like Christmas Toys in ev'ry store But the prettiest sight to see is the holly that will be On your own front door.

A pair of hopalong boots and a pistol that shoots Is the wish of Barney and Ben; Dolls that will talk and will go for a walk Is the hope of Janice and Jen; And Mom and Dad can hardly wait for school to start again. It's beginning to look a lot like Christmas Ev'rywhere you go; There's a tree in the Grand Hotel, one in the park as well, The sturdy kind that doesn't mind the snow. It's beginning to look a lot like Christmas; Soon the bells will start, And the thing that will make them ring is the carol that you sing Right within your heart.

In my neighborhood and around where I live, you can see people decorating their homes. I have started doing a little decorating of my own by putting a wreath on our front door. Within the next few days I will be decorating some more. Rest assurred pictures will be posted.

God Bless you and your families during this holiday season.

We're moving

A couple weeks ago my mom and I went out to run a couple errands and when we got back my grandma said she needed to talk to us.

Pause for dramatic effect....

We said about what and she said about moving. My mom and and I were elated so we said ok when. She said you dont even know where so we let her say where and she said in with David, who is my uncle.

My uncle has a house and we live in an apartment and finances are tight so my grandma is going to help my uncle pay bills.

I am so excited to move, I would move today if I could. We were going to move after the first of the year but my grandma has to pay two months rent if were here on the first of the month, so we will be moving the 27th of December.

Below are a few photos of our apartment(please excuse the clutter)

The photos are of our apartment when you first walk in, our kitchen, and my bedroom.

Happy Birthday Nana!!!

On Thursday last week my grandma celebrated her 70th birthday. She was able to take the weekend off to have some well deserved rest and relaxation. We are so blessed to have her apart of our family. She has been/and is a great influence on our family by serving God and others. I cannot express how much I appreciate my grandma with all she has done for my family and I. From buying my school clothes when I was in elementary school to being there for my Uncle David after his knee surgery to buying cupcakes for my class when it was my birthday in elementary school and never failing to buy a teddy bear for my cousin and I for Christmas.

I Love You Nana and I hope you enjoyed your birthday and may God bless you in the upcoming year and the years ahead.

On Saturday evening we were able to go out to dinner at Mimi's cafe and it was nice to get together as a family since the last time we were all together as a family was at my sister's wedding in June.

For those of you who don't know, my sister, Nikki got married in June to Michael Wolfe. Michael is a great man and it is so great to have him apart of our family, not that he wasn't apart of our family before because my sister has been with him for 9 years.

Well it has been a long time since I have posted but I will get back into it and keep you up to date with the goings on of my life and my family.

God bless you all and have a great week.
