Victory in Jesus

This past Sunday, my church had a hymn sing led by our choir director and her husband, Rick and Melva Morrison. Rick is an old testament sunday school teacher and Melva directs the worship choir and teaches as Jurupa Valley High School.

Well back to the hymn sing.

Melva played the piano and Rick allowed the congregation to choose songs that they like out of the hymnal. I did not choose a song and I don't remember if we sang this song or not but this past week I have had the hymn, Victory in Jesus, stuck in my head. It is one of my favorite hymns and enjoy it when we sing it in worship services.

Victory in Jesus

I HEARD AN OLD,
OLD STORY
HOW A SAVIOUR CAME
FROM GLORY
HOW HE GAVE HIS LIFE
ON CALVARY
TO SAVE SOMEONE LIKE ME

I HEARD ABOUT
HIS GROANING,
OF HIS PRECIOUS BLOOD'S
ATONING
THEN I REPENTED
OF MY SIN
AND WON THE VICTORY

OH, VICTORY IN JESUS,
MY SAVIOUR FOREVER
HE SOUGHT ME
AND HE BOUGHT ME
WITH HIS REDEEMING BLOOD

HE LOVED ME
ERE I KNEW HIM
AND ALL MY LOVE
IS DUE HIM
HE PLUNGED ME TO VICTORY
BENEATH THE
CLEANSING BLOOD

I HEARD ABOUT HIS
HEALING,
OF HIS CLEANSING POW'R
REVEALING
HOW HE MADE THE LAME
TO WALK AGAIN
AND CAUSED THE
BLIND TO SEE

AND THEN I CRIED
"DEAR JESUS,
COME AND HEAL
MY BROKEN SPIRIT"
AND SOMEHOW JESUS
CAME AND BROUGHT
TO ME THE VICTORY

OH, VICTORY IN JESUS,
MY SAVIOUR FOREVER

  1. Hi Jennifer!
I wanted to stop by your blog and thank you for the thoughtful comment you wrote to me. It certainly brightened my day! You have a lovely blog, and in regards to your question about what to write, here is my advice: Write what you're passionate about! You said you enjoy dressing modestly, so maybe you could write a post about why you enjoy it and what it means to you. I enjoy writing about cooking, my family, and lessons the Lord has taught me recently, just to name a few. I also find it fun sometimes to throw in a random post here and there, just to switch things up a little bit. I hope my few suggestions helped!
You're doing a wonderful job on your blog, Jennifer! Keep up the great work!

    Many Blessings,
    Jenna
